Yoweri Museveni








Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is a Ugandan politician who has been President of Uganda since 29 January 1986. He was born on August 15, 1944 in Ntungamo, Uganda Protectorate.

President Yoweri Museveni was involved in the war that deposed Idi Amin Dada, ending his rule in 1979, and in the rebellion that subsequently led to the demise of the Milton Obote regime in 1985.

President Yoweri Museveni has two siblings, a brother Caleb Akandwanabo, popularly known in Uganda as Salim Saleh and sister Violet Kajubiri.

He attanded Kyamate Elementary School, Mbarara High School, and Ntare School. In 1967 he went to the University of Dar es salaam in Tanzania. There, he studied economics and political science. While at University, he formed the University Students' African Revolutionary Front activist group.

President Yoweri Museveni married his wife Janet Museveni in 1973 and they have 4 children, Muhoozi Kainerugaba born in 1974, who is the Brigadier in the UPDF & Commander of Special Forces. Natasha Museveni Karugire, born in 1976, who is Fashion designer and consultant, married to Edwin Karugire, Private Secretary to the President of Uganda for Household Affairs. Patience  Museveni Rwabwogo, born in 1978, she is a Pastor of Covenant Nations Church, Buziga, Kampala and married to Odrek Rwabwogo and Diana Museveni Kamuntu, born in 1980, married to Geoffrey Kamuntu.
