Michael Chilufya Sata is a Zambian politician who is the fifth and current president of Zambia. He was elected president of Zambia on 23 September 2011. Sata leads the Patriotic Front (PF), a major political party in Zambia.
Michael Chilufya Sata was born in 1937 in Mpika, Northern Province, Zambia. He worked as a police officer, railway man, and trade unionist before entering politics in 1963. He spent time in London working on the railway sweeping the platforms. He was also a porter at Victoria railway station.
President Sata is married to Dr. Christine Kaseba Sata and he has 8 children.
